Thousands took part in the Broadway Bomb longboarding race in New York City’s Manhattan, on Saturday.
The race which is around 8-mile (12,8 km) takes place annually bringing together longboard enthusiasts.
The event was founded in 2002 when only 16 longboarders took part, now it attracts thousands from all around the world.
According to Luca Yada, an organiser of the race, “All skaters from all around the whole world try to show up for at least Broadway Bomb, we literally just take the streets over for half an hour to 45 minutes.”
The race is unsanctioned by New York City authorities, taking place in regular traffic, a risky challenge, reflected in the event slogan “You Could Die.”
The event was officially cancelled in 2012, after the New York Supreme Court passed an injunction declaring the race as unlawful.
However, the race has gone ahead without further issues.
