Chelsea FC manager Thomas Tuchel is speaking to the press alongside Jorginho and Cesar Azpilicueta in Porto on Friday, May 28, the day before his team faces Manchester City in the final of this season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League.
The ‘Blues’ are looking to relive their European glory of 2012, when they secured the trophy for the first and only time against Germany’s Bayern Munich on penalties. In 2008, in their first final ever of Europe’s elite club competition, the Londoners weren’t as lucky in the penalty shootouts, losing to Manchester United, in the first all-English final of the competition.
Originally scheduled for Istanbul, Saturday’s match was later moved to the Portuguese city of Porto following the UK government’s decision to place Turkey on its red list of travel destinations, which would have prevented fans from flying in to watch the game.
The Estadio do Dragao will host 16,500 people for the final, one-third of its total capacity, allowing each team to send 6,000 supporters. Traveling fans will need a PCR test 72 hours before their flights and another test after they have returned to the UK.
