Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is speaking to the press alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho in Porto on Friday, May 28, the day before his team faces Chelsea in the final of this season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League.
The game marks City’s first Champions League final, becoming the ninth different English team to reach the decisive match of the competition. After recently conquering the English Premier League, the third during Guardiola’s first five seasons at the club, City are now one game away from securing European club football’s most prestigious trophy for the first time.
Originally scheduled for Istanbul, Saturday’s match was later moved to the Portuguese city of Porto following the UK government’s decision to place Turkey on its red list of travel destinations, which would have prevented fans from flying in to watch the game.
The Estadio do Dragao will host 16,500 people for the final, one-third of its total capacity, allowing each team to send 6,000 supporters. Traveling fans will need a PCR test 72 hours before their flights and another test after they have returned to the UK.
